Out On Screen: Festival and Organizational Website
Out On Screen curates films that illuminate transformative moments in the lives of queer, trans, and Two Spirit people, convene meaningful dialogue around issues relevant to 2SLGBTQIA+ communities today, and catalyze change locally and globally. The organization runs year-round programming and the annual Vancouver Queer Film Festival. It also brings films and facilitated discussion to schools throughout British Columbia both in-person and through their online film catalogue.
The team at Out On Screen approached us to help design a new website to unify their three existing ones. The objective of the new website was to create one space to promote their many activities and tell a cohesive brand story to improve fundraising. The website would have to house their year-round and festival programming, a film catalogue and offer various ways of getting engaged.
The new website features a film catalogue with educational resources and integrated box office functionality for year-round programming, the festival and membership management. The site offers both space for featured content for a curated experience as well as a list with browsing, sorting and search options for ease of use. The site is responsive, accessible (AODA WCAG 2.0 Level AA) and easy to manage using a WordPress CMS.
The redesigned Out On Screen website was awarded a RGD 2022 Social Good Design Award in the category of Arts & Culture.
