Artspeak is a non-profit, artist-run centre encouraging a dialogue between visual art and writing. Artspeak actively contributes to cultural communities through their commitment to artists producing challenging, innovative work in diverse media.
Building on an existing logo, our team developed an updated visual identity to capture the essence of Artspeak Gallery and create a brand story that would reflect their mandate and intention.
Through repetition, cropping and intentional disruption of balance, the visual language further explores the ideas represented in the logo with the hanging comma. Layouts suggest continuity, conversation and the ephemeral. Gestural mark-ups bring emphasis to authentic and diverse voices contributing to the conversation. This device invites input through ‘edits’, commentary and discussion, creating a less formal and more approachable visual language.
