Intermediate or Senior Designer

We are looking for an intermediate or senior designer who will work collaboratively in our tight-knit team. The ideal candidate will be able to take on a lead role on select projects, engage with clients and other project stakeholders through design research, presentations, and feedback sessions. They will also be able to work independently, show initiative and possess strong problem solving abilities. 

We value the different perspectives, experiences and skills people bring to table and so encourage people from any and all backgrounds to apply. This includes candidates from historically marginalized communities or who have faced other/additional barriers.

    • Create engaging, effective and thoughtful design solutions that help amplify our clients’ impact

    • Work on a diverse portfolio of projects from brand identity development to web design, to print production and animation.

    • Be part of a close-knit team in a highly collaborative environment

    • Proven experience as a designer demonstrated through your portfolio of work

    • Strong background in graphic design and typography

    • Ability to work in a variety of media from print to digital

    • Design research and analysis skills

    • Strategic problem solving skills

    • A demonstrated ability to communicate concepts and ideas both visually, verbally and in writing

    • Proficiency and understanding of design software (Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, etc.) and the ability to adapt to new technologies

    • Motion design and animation skills are an asset

    • Facilitation experience is an asset

    • Professional experience with the nonprofit sector is an asset

    • Creativity, empathy, and vision 

    • Full-time position

    • Salary range of $55,000-$75,000 based on experience

    • Hybrid or work from home options

    • Four-day work week (Monday-Thursday, based on a 32-hour week)

About Co-Effect:

Co-Effect is a Tkaronto/Toronto-based creative studio with expertise in strategy, branding, graphic and web design. We were founded with the objective of offering professional support in communications, marketing and design to social, environmental and cultural change-makers in order to help them amplify their positive impact. For over a decade, our small but mighty team has helped socially minded organizations and businesses tackle their challenges and bring their ideas to life through creative problem solving and design. 

Freelance Animator

We are looking for Freelance Motion Graphics Artist/Animator to work either remotely or hybrid with our team on a short animation (under 2 minutes).

    • Adapting an existing storyboard and illustration assets to animate a short explainer video

    • Overlaying captions, voiceover and audio tracks

    • Contributing creative ideas that help to visually tell the story.

    • Self-motivated and detail oriented, with the ability to work equally well independently, and as part of a diverse creative team.

    • Passion for creativity and storytelling.

    • Ability to understand and respond well to feedback and criticism.

    • Experience in motion graphics/2D animation

    • The animation will be produced in English and French, so ability to understand French is an asset to overlay audio, but not required

    • Timeline to be confirmed (estimated for mid-late September-October)

    • Project fee to be determined based on scope and timeline.
